Who we are
Hangzhou Travel Guide is a small, independent travel publication focused exclusively on Hangzhou, China. We have been writing about this city since 2024, and we update every guide at least once per quarter against the latest transit schedules, ticket prices, and hotel rates.
Our editorial team is based in Hangzhou and Shanghai. We are not a content mill — every article on this site has been researched on the ground, and every price, phone number, and opening hour has been verified within the last 90 days.
How we work
Every guide on this site goes through a five-step process before it goes live:
- On-the-ground research. We visit the place. We take the bus, walk the path, eat at the restaurant, and stay at the hotel.
- Cross-reference with official sources. We check government transport sites, attraction websites, and hotel booking platforms.
- Price verification. Every price on the site has been confirmed within the last 90 days. If we cannot verify a price, we do not publish it.
- No-AI-first-draft policy. AI is used to fact-check and tighten prose, never to write the first draft. Every guide is written by a human editor.
- Quarterly refresh. Every guide is reviewed every 90 days. The “Last updated” date at the top of each article is real.
What we do not do
We do not run sponsored posts, do not accept payment for coverage, and do not link to products or services for any compensation other than our genuine editorial recommendation. We may use affiliate links for hotel and tour bookings (clearly marked), but these never influence our recommendations.
We do not use AI-generated images, AI-written text, or AI-summarized reviews. Everything on this site is created by a human, on the ground, in Hangzhou.
What we cover
Our focus is practical, decision-ready information for foreign visitors planning a trip to Hangzhou. We write about:
